My First Lucy Score Book – Welcome to Knockemout

My First Lucy Score Book

The Knockemout series - my first Lucy Score book

Join me as I review my first Lucy Score book, Things We Never Got Over and the entire Knocemout series and crew!

I recognize that I’m very slow to hop on hyped book trains in their shining moments. In my defense, I usually read and listen to audiobooks based on what’s available through my library apps at the moment. And, there was a good while there in undergraduate and graduate school, when I didn’t have any time for personal reading.

So with my excuses made, I definitely missed out on the Knockemout Series when they were first released. I’ve been wanting to try a Lucy Score book, and I found a copy of the second book in the series in my local thrift shop. I figured that was a sign, so I gave them a shot. And here we are! Now I’m truly sad to leave behind Knockemout and the characters I have fallen in love with reading this series!

The Knockemout Series

My first Lucy Score book

If you’re like me and are late to this game, jump to the Good Reads Synopsis below of the first book, Things We Leave Unfinished. I would definitely read these in order instead of considering them stand-alone reads. They are each based on a different couple, but there is an intertwining storyline that builds from the first book. The entire series is available on Kindle Unlimited for all my Kindle girlies!

Spoilers Past This Point

As much as I loved our Knoxy the tattooed hot barber and Naomi, our sweet, motherly flower child that started it all in the first book, I’d have to say my favorite couple was probably Sloane and Lucifer, I mean Lucian.

There was something about their story that tied my heart strings in knots – seeing Lucian accept Sloane and her love into his life. Feeling like he deserved a chance after all his father had done. Plus, she’s the cute, nerdy librarian who has a cat and loves books. What’s not to adore about Sloane?

Since I hate unnecessarily stubborn characters or miscommunication, I love a good “AHA moment” when a character realizes, “DUH, I LOVE THEM!” All three of the Knockemout boys have their own and gosh, I’m such a sucker for a HEA. I love it, give me a thousand more, please!

One thing I loved about this series in general is the huge friend/family group that Lucy Score develops and adds to throughout the series. The banter and bickering between them all had me cackling and cheesey smiling, so that’s an obvious win for me.

And I also loved having the extended epilogues after each book. What a fun surprise! So thank you for that, Lucy Score! Every reader’s dream, honestly!

Which is your favorite book of Knockemout?

I’m curious to know which Knockemout book couple was your favorite of the series. And if you have any book recs for my next Lucy Score read, leave them in the comments!

Goodreads Synopsis

Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score

Bearded, bad-boy barber Knox prefers to live his life the way he takes his coffee: Alone. Unless you count his basset hound, Waylon. Knox doesn’t tolerate drama, even when it comes in the form of a stranded runaway bride.

Naomi wasn’t just running away from her wedding. She was riding to the rescue of her estranged twin to Knockemout, Virginia, a rough-around-the-edges town where disputes are settled the old-fashioned way…with fists and beer. Usually in that order.

Too bad for Naomi her evil twin hasn’t changed at all. After helping herself to Naomi’s car and cash, Tina leaves her with something unexpected. The niece Naomi didn’t know she had. Now she’s stuck in town with no car, no job, no plan, and no home with an 11-year-old going on thirty to take care of.

There’s a reason Knox doesn’t do complications or high-maintenance women, especially not the romantic ones. But since Naomi’s life imploded right in front of him, the least he can do is help her out of her jam. And just as soon as she stops getting into new trouble he can leave her alone and get back to his peaceful, solitary life.

At least, that’s the plan until the trouble turns to real danger.
